Jesus Lane, Cambridge

The two adjoining Grade II listed buildings occupy a central Cambridge position over-looking Sidney Sussex College.

The buildings are situated in a conservation area and are recognised by the Local Authority and Victorian Society as being an important contribution to the street scene.

The properties were purchased with a view to combining both units internally into a single office building. The internal conversion had to be built to institutional standards and the integration of both properties was made all the more complex by the introduction of a steel strengthening structure and lifts, all of which had to be inserted without altering the external facades. The roof was rebuilt to a similar outline to accommodate aditional office space and plant, but in other respects the elevations were maintained to their original appearance.
