Humberstone Gate, Leicester

A redundant department store had to make way for this new major inner city redevelopment in Humberstone Road, Leicester.

The project provides some 2500 sq.m. of retail space over three floors. The existing 1930's Portland stone clad tower was retained and the final scheme reflects the perpendicular design for the remainder of the building.

The plan of the frontage onto Humberstone Gate follows a slow arc. This feature helps to integrate the building with the Haymarket opposite. Once the pedestrianisation of the precinct is completed the design will significantly enhance the townscape quality of the area.

The major incoming tenants were Marks and Spencers and Tesco Metro.
