Projects : IndustrialAnglian WaterLowestoft Waste Water Treatment WorksThis R.I.B.A. award winning new waste water treatment centre for the Lowestoft area will be the last purpose built building on the east coast of England for Anglian Water. The building will also be the first fully enclosed odour controlled building of its type. The elongated dome shaped building measures some 160m x 110m and is recessed into the gently rolling Suffolk countryside by up to 8m. The building will also accommodate an integral Visitors' Centre with support facilities. The project will require substantial ground contour modelling, which will terminate at high level to the building leaving a 1.5 m high horizontal glazing strip below the roof eaves. The roof will be covered with an aluminium standing seam type roof and the roof surface water will be collected in a perimeter rill and diverted to nearby lagoons. Awards
